An Overview of the Process

In order to be considered for egg donation, you must be in good health and between the ages of 20-29. You will provide our office with pictures of yourself and detailed information for our profile. If you are selected by a recipient family, we will proceed with medical screenings. There will be no charges to you, including medical appointments and legal fees, since these costs will be covered by the recipients. The entire cycle takes approximately four weeks, and your compensation is not dependent on whether the recipients conceive or not.

The Egg Donation Procedure

The full series of medical tests and screenings are used to ensure that you are in good health and psychologically prepared to undergo the procedure. You can expect to have various blood tests for genetic conditions and sexually transmitted diseases. When all medical testing has been completed, the attorneys that we work with will draw up contracts that will be signed by both you and the intended recipients before we can proceed to the next step.

Once medically and legally cleared, you will go through a medication regimen to synchronize your menstrual cycle with the intended recipient. This step can usually be accomplished by using birth control pills to manipulate the timing of your cycle. You will then be given medication to stimulate your ovaries to produce multiple eggs. At this point in the process, you will need to be available for doctor's appointments regularly to perform blood tests and ultrasounds to monitor the growth of the eggs.

At the appropriate time when the eggs are fully matured, one of our physicians will perform the egg retrieval procedure. This minimally invasive surgery is performed by inserting a needle through the vagina to aspirate the eggs, guided by ultrasound imaging. The entire procedure can be accomplished in about 30 minutes, although it is recommended that you rest for several hours following the surgery.
